ELLEN GRAY

Director & Licensed Conveyancer (License No. 0708L)

Ellen Gray is the Founder and a Director of The Conveyancing Family and a Licensed Conveyancer with close to 20 years of experience in the legal and property sectors. Since beginning her career in 2006, Ellen has witnessed and embraced the dramatic evolution of the conveyancing industry. From traditional paper heavy offices with filing cabinets and posted contracts to today’s seamless, digital-first platforms, she has adapted to every innovation while keeping her clients at the heart of every decision.

Starting out in busy Melbourne-based law and conveyancing firms, Ellen built her expertise in fast-paced environments where precision, communication, and time management were non-negotiable. Her work ranged across all aspects of residential and commercial property transactions, where she quickly developed a reputation for her reliability, technical knowledge, and approachable style.

Over the years, Ellen has seen firsthand how the industry has transformed. In the early days, property settlements were entirely manual piles of paper files, in-person signings, physical title documents, and long waits for postal delivery were standard. Conveyancing stages could span several days, and human error was an ever-present risk. The shift to digital platforms like PEXA (Property Exchange Australia) and SPEAR (Surveying and Planning through Electronic Applications and Referrals) revolutionised the landscape, enabling real-time electronic settlements, online lodgements, and a significant increase in accuracy, efficiency, and client confidence.

Ellen was an early adopter of these technologies, understanding the need to evolve with the industry not just for efficiency, but for better client outcomes. Today, The Conveyancing Family operates as a fully digital, highly responsive practice that provides modern convenience without losing the personal touch. Whether you’re a first home buyer or a seasoned investor, Ellen’s experience ensures you’re guided with clarity and professionalism in a landscape that’s constantly changing.

In 2021, Ellen founded The Conveyancing Family to bring a fresh, community-focused approach to the industry — one where clients feel supported, informed, and empowered throughout their entire property journey. Under her leadership, the business has grown to include access to a trusted referral network, including The Finance Family, a mortgage brokerage offering integrated support for those needing financial advice alongside their property transaction.

What sets Ellen apart is her belief that conveyancing isn’t just about paperwork it’s about people. She is passionate about helping clients navigate the emotional and financial complexities of buying or selling, and she never loses sight of the fact that, for most, property is their biggest life investment. She is known for her practical advice and unwavering integrity often reminding clients: “Never sign anything unless you’re 100% satisfied with the terms, and never rely on a verbal or handshake agreement.”

Outside the office, Ellen enjoys spending time with her family, relaxing at the beach, exploring art, connecting with animals, and being in nature — passions that help her stay grounded and balanced while leading a growing, modern conveyancing practice.
